The 7th annual Southern Nevada Solar Home Tour was a resounding success!
From passive solar design, to water and energy efficiency and of course solar power, each home on the tour offered unique combinations of technology, materials and wise use of resources. The common thread was the enthusiasm of generous homeowners sharing their experiences about the tangible benefits of green living.
We hope you were on the tour this year. If you were, we thank you for attending and offer these words of caution: Attending a solar home tour can lead to a lifetime of energy independence and a major reduction in your carbon footprint. Clean energy is addicting. You surely came in close contact with others with similar issues. Don’t say we didn’t warn you.
If you do become addicted, blame the American Solar Energy Society and their National Solar Tour. Many chapters hold tours every fall and collectively, it is the largest solar event in the country. More than 160,000 participants in 3,200 communities visited innovative green homes, learning how to use solar energy, energy efficiency, and other sustainable technologies to reduce monthly utility bills and help tackle climate change.
And finally a few words from, quite literally, the star of our tour…
